There are numbers of same type of the systems like the Solar System with a fixed star (A star with the nuclear fusion like the Sun) in the center with a sevral planets going around it other than the Solar System. The group of these systems is called the Galactic System.

The shape of the Galactic System is like a disk, if you see it from far out of the system. A Human being have not achieved to fly the spaceserveyers to out of the Galactic System, and it is impossible to see the system from the out actually. However, we can imagine it looking at other systems in Local Galactic Swarm. The picture below is a sample.



If this picture were the Galactic System, the Solar System shoud be located somewhere close to the center at the round shape area. Therefore, number of the stars in the spread out area in the shape of disk, sorround you in the sky like a river. This is the Milky Way
